Background

Anheuser-Busch engaged Another Reality Studio (ARS) to layer an augmented reality experience onto its flagship St. Louis brewery tour — one of Missouri's most-visited attractions. Rather than a stand-alone novelty moment, the brief called for a coherent, location-aware journey across multiple stops on the campus.

The Deployment

ARS built the experience on its proprietary AR Everywhere platform, described as an AR browser that lets clients compose on-location tours, exhibits, and scavenger hunts in a modular way. For the brewery, the platform was customised to deliver three distinct stops, each locked precisely to its physical location using Unity AR Foundation 5 with Google Cloud Anchors (for indoor persistence) and Google Geospatial Anchors (for outdoor GPS-tied content).

Tour Stops

  • Stop 1 — Stables: Visitors could pose with life-sized AR Clydesdales and a dalmatian in the actual stable environment.
  • Stop 2 — Brewmaster's Suite: An exclusive area rendered as a 360° photosphere for visitors to explore.
  • Stop 3 — Brewing Process: A static poster was transformed into a living AR guide walking visitors through every stage from mashing to shipping, using maps, animations, and video.

An on-screen compass guided visitors between stops, giving the multi-location experience a coherent flow.

Technical Approach

Keeping digital content precisely aligned both indoors and outdoors required meticulous anchor planning — Cloud Anchors needed careful configuration for persistence, while Geospatial Anchors tied outdoor elements to exact GPS coordinates. Each scene was optimised for quick loading and smooth interaction on iPhone and iPad. Because AR Everywhere is hardware-agnostic, the same architecture is reusable for future tours or brand activations without rebuilding from scratch.

Outcomes

The project was delivered as a production iOS app and received positive feedback from the Anheuser-Busch team. The brewery tour experience demonstrated how location-aware AR can enhance visitor engagement at an established hospitality destination.
