Asahi Breweries is running a prize campaign for its Mirai Lemon Sour range in Japan, tied to the anime franchise Ghost in the Shell. Entrants scan an opened can with a smartphone camera, and an augmented reality presentation appears in which characters from the franchise explain how to enjoy the drink.

How the experience works

The campaign site instructs participants to open a target can and, before drinking, scan the can body with a smartphone camera. On a successful scan, Ghost in the Shell characters appear in AR. Which character appears is random each time. The experience needs camera access permission, and the recommended environment is a smartphone browser (the latest Safari is listed); PCs and tablets are outside the recommended environment.

Campaign period and eligibility

Asahi launched the campaign on 20 October 2026 and announced the start on its own X account the same day. It runs until 12 January 2027. Participation is limited to people living in Japan, and the campaign offers a chance to win limited collaboration goods.
