Assolombarda, the business association, has signed an agreement with the local health agency ATS Pavia to bring immersive technology to workplace health-and-safety training in the province of Pavia, Italy. The initiative plans to use virtual reality headsets and driving simulators so that workers, students and businesses can face risk scenarios through hands-on experience and interactive simulations.
Training is set to take place in the VirtualSafetyLab, described as a permanent immersive lab where VR headsets and simulators let participants confront risk scenarios in a practical way. The tools will first be used in pilot initiatives intended to test the training materials and gather feedback from students and companies; the project has been announced but is not yet reported as operating.
The two organizations split the work:
- ATS Pavia will scientifically validate the regulatory and methodological content and provide part of the immersive devices.
- Assolombarda will coordinate the involvement of local companies and schools.
