China (Hainan) South China Sea Museum uses a VR deep-sea salvage simulation to introduce young visitors to underwater archaeology. The experience forms part of the museum’s “探海寻踪” underwater archaeology area, connecting visitors with the maritime heritage of the South China Sea.

A report published on 28 September 2026 described the experience as operating during the Mid-Autumn holiday, when the museum welcomed family learning groups. It presented the simulation as a way for children to encounter the challenges and discoveries of underwater archaeology, without reporting measured learning outcomes.
