The College of Central Florida opened its new Center for Career Development on its Ocala campus on 22 September 2026. The center includes access to virtual reality headsets that let students immerse themselves in different fields and gain practical experience as they explore career options.
The headsets are housed in the Connection Hub by Fastenal, a collaborative networking space within the center. Simulations let students try out work such as responding to a car accident for prospective paramedics or working on an airplane for those considering avionics. Attendees at the grand opening tested the headsets, and students described using them to try occupations such as electrical engineer and to see how an architect's work feeds into construction management.
