CONALEP, Mexico's national technical education college, has begun placing Immersive Innovation Hubs on its campuses as part of the Bachillerato Nacional strategy. The Hubs combine virtual reality, simulators and haptic technology to strengthen technical training for students.
Implementation started in the second half of 2026 and is reaching campuses gradually through itinerant teams equipped with 18 technology simulators.
How the Hubs work
The Hubs form an educational setup that pairs virtual reality with simulators and haptic technology, which can reproduce physical sensations such as pressure, temperature, shapes and textures. Students develop technical, operational and safety skills in a controlled practice environment. Photos from CONALEP show students wearing VR headsets and handling a physical tool controller in school workshops.
Instructors and rollout
CONALEP graduates take part as instructors and technical trainers after receiving preparation and certification to operate the equipment. CONALEP's Director General, Rodrigo Rojas Navarrete, presents this as a way to offer formal employability to graduates.
