ESPN began airing live, 180-degree immersive college football games to fans wearing Quest headsets on October 10, 2026. The first game, No. 1 Texas against Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl, was streamed live through TV, Meta's entertainment app for Quest. The aim is to let viewers see the whole field from a spatial vantage point rather than a single broadcast camera angle.

How it works

Meta describes the games as live 8K streaming with Dolby Atmos and 180-degree views that make it possible to see the entire field. Viewing is passive and needs an internet connection, since the games are streamed live to the app.

Rollout

ESPN is bringing select immersive games to the TV app every week through the regular season. Meta says the slate also covers Conference Championship Weekend and the College Football Playoff, including the 2027 CFP National Championship, which the published playoff schedule sets for January 25, 2027, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The partnership was announced at Connect on September 23, 2026, and the October 10 game was its first live airing.
