Fábrica do Chocolate operates an interactive museum in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, using technology to help visitors explore chocolate and cacao. The museum combines interpretive content with interactive experiences along a visitor circuit.
A 3D film depicts the historical moment when Hernán Cortés brought cacao to Europe for its subsequent spread. Visitors use 3D glasses, with special glasses available for children who wear prescription glasses. The operator’s Spanish museum page also describes an augmented reality feature alongside educational games on interactive monitors and a small-scale chocolate factory.
The museum occupies 500 square metres in the building’s basement, with five distinct spaces arranged as a circuit. A visit lasts approximately one hour, with the duration varying by group.
