Faso Tourisme, working with the Faso E-Sports association, ran a virtual reality stand in the professional exhibitors' pavilion at Burkina Faso's SITHO tourism fair in Ouagadougou, in production since September 2026. The free experience lets visitors tour national tourist sites — including the Karfiguéla falls, Lake Tengréla, the Samendéni dam, the Fabédougou domes, the Dioulassoba mosque, the Thomas Sankara Memorial, the Laongo sculptures and Tiébélé — without leaving the fairground, with the aim of making them want to visit in person.
How it works
- Visitors sit in a chair that rotates 360 degrees and put on a VR headset with headphones for full immersion.
- A pre-recorded video plays inside the headset, taking the visitor through each site from entrance to exit and showing the services available there.
- Visitors sensitive to vertigo are asked to flag it beforehand, since some sequences give a sense of height.
Producing the content
- Teams travel to each tourist site with 360-degree cameras to film the footage.
- The footage is then edited and enriched with a voice-over narration before being loaded onto the VR headsets.
