The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Giza launched an immersive light-and-sound experience called "Eternal Sun" on 1 November 2026. Xinhua reports that the 35-minute show takes visitors on an audiovisual journey through ancient Egyptian history, using the museum's Grand Hall as the stage.
How the show works
According to Xinhua, the project combines architectural projection mapping, dynamic lighting, live music and storytelling in Arabic and English to transform the Grand Hall into an immersive stage. Images from the opening show projections of ancient Egyptian figures, pottery, workers, farmers and musicians mapped across the hall's angular walls and triangular panels while an audience watches.
Purpose and schedule
GEM CEO Ahmed Ghoneim described the show as part of the museum's efforts to present archaeological, cultural and historical content through innovative approaches. He said the show would run for six months, until 30 April 2027. The museum's ticketing pages list Eternal Sun as a separately ticketed immersive experience.
