Iberdrola AR heat pump placement preview for home customers

Iberdrola added a QR-launched AR view that scales heat pump units into a customer's own rooms and walls, answering where the kit would fit before they buy.

Iberdrola, Spain's largest electricity utility, added an augmented reality step to the way it sells domestic heat pumps (aerotermia). Prospective customers scan a QR code published on Iberdrola's customer website with their phone, and the phone renders a to-scale three-dimensional model of the heat pump's indoor and outdoor units onto the floors and walls of the room they are standing in.

The tool is aimed squarely at one objection. Iberdrola says the question that most often stalls a heat pump purchase is not price or performance but siting: where the equipment goes, and whether there is room for it. Seeing the units at their real dimensions in the actual room lets a household check the clearance it has, judge how the kit will look, and settle indoor and outdoor placement before an installer is booked.

Iberdrola offers the visualisation across the range it sells with equipment manufacturers and suppliers, including compact indoor units that fit beneath a kitchen worktop and monobloc systems that house every component in the outdoor unit - the configurations that matter most in the smaller homes where placement is hardest.

The AR feature sits alongside the commercial side of the same offer: Iberdrola administers the grants and subsidies available to each customer and nets Energy Savings Certificates (CAE) off the quoted price, which the company says can reduce the cost of an installation by up to 80%. That figure describes the subsidy arrangement, not any effect of the AR tool.

No technology vendor, AR platform or development partner is named in any of the coverage, and Iberdrola has not published usage figures for the feature.
