Jinhua Shuanglong Scenic Area in Zhejiang has added AR and VR experiences to Erxian Cave, one of its limestone caverns. The projects draw on the legend of Huang Daxian, a shepherd boy who became an immortal, and were among the technology features on show during the 2026 National Day holiday, according to Jinhua Daily.

In the VR experience, visitors wear a headset and take on the role of the young Huang Chuping on his path to immortality. The AR experience layers digital content over the real cave, so visitors see the legend alongside the cave itself rather than only looking at the scenery. The article says this suits family and educational visits, and a Jinhua resident visiting with his child described the child as especially absorbed.

The cave experiences sit alongside other technology features at the scenic area, including smart queuing, AI guides, a coffee robot, robot dog performances and interactive screens.

Quotes
