Madrid Artes Digitales (MAD) produced Les Derniers Jours de Pompéi, an original immersive exhibition that recreates the final hours of Pompeii for the public. Opus One presents the Lausanne showing at Beaulieu (Halle 35), with Beaulieu Lausanne listed among the exhibition's partners. It opens on 30 September 2026 and runs to 24 January 2027. The visit combines immersive projection, virtual reality, a metaverse experience and a collection of real artefacts.
The Tribune de Genève reviewed the exhibition on 29 September, the eve of its opening, describing it as pushing the immersive-exhibition concept to a new intensity while staying both playful and educational.
What visitors experience
The official site presents the visit in four parts. The sources describe these technology-led elements:
- 360-degree projection room: an immersive show of Pompeii's last hours, with imagery projected around the visitors across the walls and floor of the room.
- Virtual reality gladiator arena: the exhibition includes two VR experiences using headsets. The official site invites visitors to become a gladiator, while the Lausanne Tourisme listing describes a seated experience in which visitors watch a gladiator fight and a naval battle from the arena of the Colosseum.
- Metaverse tour: visitors explore the Villa of the Mysteries with an avatar, moving from room to room to discover the daily life of Pompeii's inhabitants.
- AI photo installation: at the end of the route, visitors can leave with a portrait of themselves as a Roman citizen.
Scale and duration
- 700 m² of projected imagery in the 360-degree projection room.
- 60 to 90 minutes for a full visit to the experience.
- Two virtual reality experiences in the exhibition.
