Background
Chelsea Football Club announced on 14 August 2026 that it will open Mission: Into The Blue, a virtual reality attraction at the Chelsea FC Museum & Tours at Stamford Bridge in west London. The club describes it as the first VR experience of its kind offered by a London football club, and says it will debut in summer 2026.
The attraction extends an existing visitor operation rather than replacing it. Stamford Bridge already runs a stadium tour and museum as a paid attraction, and the VR experience is positioned as a new addition to that estate.
The experience
Mission: Into The Blue is a headset-based interactive adventure rather than a passive 360-degree film. The club frames the premise around leaving the stadium behind: its launch promotion promises a mission that goes far beyond SW6 and describes the area as about to go intergalactic, indicating a space-themed virtual setting rather than a recreation of the ground itself.
Chelsea has designed the experience for visitors of all ages and pitches it as family-friendly, with the shared, in-person moments around the headset presented as part of the appeal.
Booking and access
Visitors will be able to take the experience two ways:
- as an add-on to the existing Stamford Bridge Stadium Tour
- as a standalone attraction, booked on its own
Ahead of launch, the club opened an interest-registration form giving sign-ups access to a priority booking window before tickets go on general sale.
Context
The claim Chelsea makes is specific to London. Manchester City introduced Beyond the Blue Moon on its Etihad Stadium tour in July 2025, billing that as the first VR experience on a Premier League club's stadium tour; Chelsea positions Mission: Into The Blue as the first equivalent attraction at a club in the capital.
Not yet confirmed
At announcement, Chelsea did not name the studio that developed the experience, the headset hardware or runtime used, the session length, any minimum age, or pricing. No launch date more precise than "this summer" has been published.
