Museu de Portimão in Portimão, Portugal, uses an augmented reality guide to help visitors explore the history of the former canning factory that now houses the museum. Developed by BYAR, the application adds audio, text and images to the museum visit, with videos, photographs, audio guides and AR content described in its Google Play listing.

Former factory workers contributed to the production of the guide's content, helping explain how canned goods were made during their time at the factory. Their accounts connect the museum's interpretation with the experience of people who worked there.

The guide is available on tablets and can also be downloaded to visitors' own devices. Its Android listing displayed 5,000+ downloads when captured on 4 October 2026, a measure of app downloads. BYAR also produced a virtual museum visit to bring the space to schools in the region.
