The Comune di Napoli is planning an interactive technology exhibition tied to the America's Cup sailing races in the Gulf of Naples. According to Il Mattino, visitors will be able to board an America's Cup boat virtually, talk with an avatar about the secrets of sailing these racing yachts, and wear headsets that place them in the middle of a regatta alongside the crews.
Delivery and funding
The city, using funds from the Città Metropolitana di Napoli, has closed an agreement with Cerict, the regional information and communication technology consortium, for the exhibition. Il Mattino's gallery slide titles place it at the Albergo dei Poveri in Naples.
What visitors are expected to experience
Il Mattino's slide titles list these elements:
- 3D boats that interact with the public
- an avatar that answers questions about regattas
- holograms visitors can manipulate
- a headset experience of the regatta
Status
The opening date has not yet been set. The initial phase is planned to include three sessions for school groups and three for the general public.
