Taiwan's National Immigration Agency used virtual reality in a family-education course in Keelung to introduce new residents and their relatives to Singapore's cultural attractions and multicultural society. Participants explored Singapore through VR viewers as part of a session led by instructor Danqi.

The agency's report, published on 22 October 2026, describes 14 participants from mainland China, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines. Participant Shi Mengxiu said she had never visited Singapore but had learned about its diverse cultures through the VR experience.

Quotes

“She had never been to Singapore, but through virtual reality she came to fully understand the country's diverse cultures, gained a great deal, and thanked the Immigration Agency for its arrangements.”

“Thank you to Teacher Danqi for thoughtfully designing the course and sharing her Dream-Building experience so insightfully, allowing everyone to learn about Singapore's sights and culture in a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere and broaden their international outlook. The Dream-Building Program for New Residents and Their Children is not only a stage to help new residents realize their dreams, but also an important space for showcasing their diverse cultures and professional abilities. I hope more new-resident families in Keelung will bravely pursue their dreams, make use of their strengths, realize creative ideas and their dream lives with the Immigration Agency, and spread their wings and shine in Taiwan.”
