In 2018, Taiwan’s National Museum of Prehistory offered “A New Look at Old Bones,” also promoted as “Bone出新觀點,” at its main museum in Taitung. The guided route connected 16 interactive exhibits installed through its Smart Museum work since 2016, including digital installations developed in 2017. The museum described a mix of AR, VR, motion sensing and immersive displays, alongside conventional interactive systems. The count combines several interactive exhibit formats.
A museum technical account describes a mixed reality archaeology game that placed virtual scenes over a physical excavation-pit set. Visitors used a HoloLens headset and gestures to interact with prehistoric pottery-making and archaeological content. A separate handheld experience recognized the gallery corridor and displayed 12 chronologically arranged, scanned artifact models that visitors could inspect. The animated skeleton installation used body motion sensing and screens with a projection wall to explain prehistoric pottery-making. These installations made archaeological objects and scenes interactive within the galleries.
The museum advertised two family sessions on 4 April 2018, each capped at 30 registrations, combining exhibition interpretation and interactive devices with craft activities. Its September–October 2018 newsletter also advertised the named programme for Taitung teachers on 13, 14 and 17 October. The publications document a public museum offering in 2018.
