New Sock, the Argentine producer behind Mafalda Inmersiva, is due to open a walk-through exhibition built around the cartoon character Mafalda at the Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires on Thursday 1 October 2026. The show is presented as a physical, multisensory and interactive route that visitors can explore in about 60 minutes.
The exhibition covers 1,300 m² across 13 rooms and combines sculpted sets and figures, 360° projection with surround sound, interactive touch screens and original music. An optional multi-user virtual reality experience sits in a further room.
How the experience works
The city's tourism site describes the exhibition as combining high-resolution video mapping, 360° projection with spatialised sound and real-time multi-user VR. Visitors can, for example, enter Mafalda's bedroom, walk through Manolo's grocery store and move through her neighbourhood with its smells and textures.
The VR room, called Soñando con Mafalda, is a 10-minute experience that visitors book with a separate optional ticket. Visitors wear VR headsets and enter in groups of six, sharing the same virtual world.
Production and partners
The exhibition is produced by New Sock and Kuarzo and developed by Leskian, with Crashband as associate producer. The official site states that New Sock S.A. and Leskian hold the exclusive global licence for the experience.
- New Sock: producer and licence holder
- Kuarzo: co-producer
