The city government of Rio do Oeste, Brazil, through its Department of Culture and Tourism, has invested in a balloon equipped with virtual reality goggles. The experience gives people the sensation of flying over the municipality, offering visitors and residents a different perspective of the city without leaving the ground.
The VR balloon was inaugurated in September 2026 at the Prefeito Humberto Pessat Memory House in Rio do Oeste, with students from the municipality's schools among its first users.
The balloon was funded through a parliamentary amendment secured by a representative who backed the project.
