SciArt Santa Fe presented Light in Mind, a one-night public light and video projection event on the midtown campus in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on 1 October 2026. It was a collaboration between the City of Santa Fe’s Arts and Culture Division, production studio aweStruct and SciArt Santa Fe, a local group of artists working at the intersection of science and the arts.
Pieces by about 20 artists were projected onto buildings in the campus’s visual arts center and the Santa Fe Art Institute. Local reporting described projections running on the former College of Santa Fe visual arts center, including a planet tracing an arc along one wall in an 18-minute loop.
How it worked
Event promotion described aweStruct’s approach as a fully modular, low-energy projection art system that can transform buildings and landscapes into immersive visual experiences. SciArt Santa Fe hosted a free, site-specific walking tour of the projection artwork.
Why the city backed it
The city supported the display through its Art in Public Places program. City arts staff said the aim was to activate the midtown campus while it is being redeveloped and to draw attention to parts of Santa Fe beyond the downtown tourism area.
