Scuola Edile di Bergamo hosted an immersive VR safety course on 7–8 October 2026 for approximately 30 construction workers from 12 local companies. The course, “Tecnologie digitali a supporto della prevenzione” (Digital technologies to support prevention), let participants practise recognising hazards, identifying risky behaviour and applying correct safety procedures without exposure to danger.
Participants wore headsets and used handheld controllers to explore realistic scenarios focused on scaffolding and work at height. They identified unsafe conditions, recognised errors and checked operating procedures in a protected virtual environment. The deployment photos show Meta Quest 2 headsets in use.
Francesco Sgaramella, a professional trainer and CEO of Egix, led the sessions. The course combined traditional instruction with practical virtual experiences to encourage active participation and improve workers’ ability to recognise and manage risks.
The course formed part of the wider + Formato + Sicuro programme, whose free safety training is funded by INAIL and Regione Lombardia. By the article’s publication, Scuola Edile di Bergamo reported 130 hours of non-mandatory safety training involving more than 150 workers across its wider programme activities.
