Select Rehabilitation, the largest contract rehabilitation provider in the United States, has built extended-reality sessions into the physical, occupational and speech therapy its clinicians deliver inside senior living communities. Announced on 1 April 2025, the rollout added more than 150 communities across the country during the first quarter of 2025 and opened access to the therapy platform to over 45,000 residents - described by the partners as the largest deployment of XR therapies in senior care to that point.
Therapists run the sessions on lightweight HTC VIVE XR Elite headsets carrying Mynd Immersive's MyndXR platform, which mixes virtual, mixed and augmented reality content. Clinically framed exercises target range of motion, strength building, gait training, spatial awareness and activities of daily living, alongside calming and cognitively engaging content intended to lift mood and reduce isolation among residents. AT&T supplies the 5G connectivity behind the platform.
Mynd Immersive handled deployment and staff training at an average pace of about 25 communities a week. The two companies first partnered in February 2022 to bring VR content into post-acute care; in December 2025 they said the programme had grown to more than 500 senior care communities and over 150,000 residents in close to 40 states, with session data being collected to build a senior-rehabilitation dataset.
