Seoul plans to present real-time city data experiences at Smart Life Week 2026, held at COEX Seoul from 6 to 8 October. Whitescan, which has run a real-time city data service with Seoul since September 2022, will operate the joint booth with the city for the third consecutive year.
The core exhibit is a Seoul real-time city data MCP. Visitors use a large display to ask an AI about Seoul's congestion, traffic, weather and cultural events and see answers based on live city data. This AI question-and-answer display is a 2D element that sits alongside the spatial experiences below.
Spatial experiences
- Smart glasses AR: visitors wear smart glasses and ask Haechi, Seoul's mascot, what is currently happening in the city.
- VR: a scene titled "A Day in Seoul: Gwanghwamun brought to life by real-time city data" lets visitors see how Gwanghwamun changes through the day. It shows crowds gathering and congestion shifting around cultural events, and how a rise in congestion can be predicted and responded to in virtual space.
What comes next
Whitescan's CEO, Ahn Eun-hee, said the aim this year is to show more intuitively a future city that combines city data and AI. Whitescan plans to keep developing the real-time city data service into an AI-based city decision-making service.
The booth is announced for the event dates, so the experiences have not yet been shown to the public.
