Tohoku Labour Bank ran a virtual recruitment event for students due to join the bank in 2027. Held on the browser-based metaverse platform Mechaverse, from Hashilus, the event let students put questions to serving employees in real time, without showing their faces. MyDearest Inc. supported the planning and operation of the event.
The bank scheduled four 25-minute sessions, at 14:00 and 15:00 on each of 5 and 13 February 2026. Students joined from a smartphone or PC browser, so no headset was needed. MyDearest reported that about 50 students from inside and outside the Tohoku area attended.
How the event worked
Participants used avatars that did not show their own faces, and could display a nickname instead of their real name. The bank described it as an anonymous-participation event in which students could ask senior staff anything and meet several staff members.
- A virtual Q&A session was the highlight, where students talked with serving employees in real time.
- Information panels in the virtual space introduced the bank's work.
- A booth showed videos of real work scenes at the bank.
