Universidad de Guadalajara worked with STEMarts Lab to connect upper-secondary students with science and art through Space (AR)T in Guadalajara. School demonstrations, workshops and talks introduced augmented reality as a medium for public creative expression. The university reported 36 selected works from three preparatory schools.
The public pop-up at Plaza Guadalajara used QR codes and phones or tablets to reveal six animated 3D models around the cathedral and sky. Artists and students from Mexico and New Mexico created the works. Visitors took photos or selfies with the models, with images displayed live on an LED screen; collecting all six earned a take-home AR object. Youth ambassadors guided participants.
STEMarts’ event video, its subsequent exchange report and the Albuquerque Sister Cities Foundation newsletter confirm that the installation took place on November 22, 2024, from 17:00 to 19:00. STEMarts reports more than 40 students attending the event and 20 paid student ambassadors serving as AR experience guides. The newsletter separately reports a presentation to 130 students and faculty at Preparatoria Jalisco. These are distinct participation measures; no total public attendance or measured learning outcome is reported.
