Universidade Fernando Pessoa (UFP) leads INOVA4MED, a planned medical education network in Portugal that will combine augmented reality, virtual reality and clinical simulation. The consortium aims to let medical students and healthcare professionals practise in simulated environments that replicate complex clinical scenarios.
UFP's Medical Simulation Centre (FP-CSM), described as under construction, is intended to be a key part of the network. Consortium partners include Escola Superior de Saúde Fernando Pessoa, Escola Superior de Saúde do Alto Tâmega da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa, Hospital Escola Fernando Pessoa and Instituto Nacional de Saúde Doutor Ricardo Jorge.
The programme expects to train 160 medical students and more than 1,000 healthcare professionals over two years. These are planned training targets; the supplied source does not confirm that the network is operating or report achieved results. The project is financed through Portugal's Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
