ITIS G. Vallauri, a technical institute in Velletri, Italy, is bringing a stereoscopic 3D teaching system, zSpace, into its classrooms. Local outlet Castelli Notizie describes it as a virtual reality technology that delivers immersive lessons through holography and stereoscopy. Students can explore three-dimensional models, manipulate virtual objects and observe phenomena and structures from perspectives that are hard to reproduce in a traditional lesson.

The system is one of the technologies in the school's TecnoLAB, an innovation laboratory built with European Union Next Generation EU funding under Italy's PNRR, Piano Scuola 4.0, Action 2 "Next Generation Labs".

Teacher training

On 24 and 29 September 2026, ten teachers from scientific and technical subjects attended a training course on the system. The source reports that these ten teachers chose to share what they learned with the other teachers at the school.

What comes next

The project is part of a wider effort by head teacher Ambrogio Morrone and administrative director Carmela Covino to relaunch the historic school as a technology hub for the area. A public event, "Il Vallauri presenta lo zSpace", is planned among the school's open days for the community, where teachers and staff will demonstrate the new system's potential. No date is given for it.

Quotes

“We are convinced that technology is not only engineering and automation, but also creativity, vision and the ability to turn technique into cultural, social and aesthetic expression.”
