The association Voix et Lumière de Jehanne is staging Le Crépuscule des Pierres, an immersive and interactive show inside the Église Saint-Joseph in Montigny-lès-Metz, France. Video projections cover the nave, choir and vaults, and each spectator uses a small keypad to vote on how the story unfolds. The first public performance took place on 9 October 2026.
How it works
Twenty-four laser video projectors cover the whole nave, choir and vaults of the church, which the official site describes as 360-degree immersive projection. Live actors, a pianist and costumed extras perform among the audience, and the projections carry the story of the La Tour family. Spectators use the keypads to steer the characters' fate, reveal or conceal a secret and influence the ending, so the show changes from one evening to the next, according to director Damien Fontaine.
Le Républicain Lorrain reports that the visuals took 7,000 hours of graphic creation. The Montigny-lès-Metz run is presented as a new version of a show that previously played in Neufchâteau.
Run and scale
Performances run Tuesday to Sunday, two per evening. The run was first scheduled to end on 15 November 2026 and has been extended to 29 November 2026.
- Budget: Le Républicain Lorrain reports a budget of more than €600,000, entirely self-financed by the association, so ticket revenue has to at least cover costs.
- Tickets: the association's communications manager said about 8,000 tickets had been sold as of early November 2026, against roughly 20,000 spectators hoped for.
- Reception: the communications manager reports an excellent satisfaction score and very positive feedback, but says word of mouth is working more slowly than expected.
