The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) used AR glasses to provide real-time translation at its 26th Global Summit, held in Valletta, Malta, on 7-9 October 2026. According to a syndicated Sina Finance article, more than 110 pairs of glasses from China carried the translation for several sessions, including the WTTC annual members meeting, Members Circle and the main plenary.

The AR and AI meeting translation system was supplied by LLVision (LEION), a gold partner of the summit. Rather than relying on traditional interpretation headsets, attendees wore the glasses and saw speakers' words translated into text in real time before their eyes. At the Mediterranean Conference Centre, speeches on stage were converted to live subtitles in the wearer's chosen language.

Reception

Mariya Stoycheva, a manager at Accademia Europea di Firenze, reported testing multiple languages after trying the glasses. She described the translation as very timely and the experience as a pleasant surprise.

The article is vendor-style coverage of the deployment, and the scale figure is as reported there.

Quotes

“I tested multiple languages, the translation was very timely, and the experience was a pleasant surprise.”
