Outernet opened The Summer Palace at the Now Building in central London on 12 January 2023. Created by Agustin Vidal Saavedra of Dublin-based Glasseye Productions, the immersive digital art experience combines Renaissance paintings, animation, particle simulations and 3D visuals to take visitors on a journey through time and space. Outernet offers free entry without booking.

WXO’s January 2023 coverage reported an initial run from 12 to 31 January, open daily until 11.30pm. It described the Now Building environment presenting the work as 23,000 square feet of floor-to-ceiling, 360-degree, 8K screens across four storeys.

Glasseye describes animations spanning four screen walls before extending onto the ceiling. Saavedra says particle simulations create galaxies, stars and explosions, while AI enhances the paintings to 8K resolution. The imagery also incorporates fractals and real pictures of space.
