Background
The International School of Monaco (ISM) serves students aged 3 to 18 with an ambition to develop confident, multilingual, and responsible citizens of the world. In pursuit of that mission, the school incorporated a dedicated immersive auditorium into its new premises from the architectural design stage, then set out to find a technology solution that would genuinely enhance pedagogy rather than serve as a novelty.
The Deployment
The school selected Shariiing by Immersion as its collaborative platform after encountering it during a demonstration at Immersion's Bordeaux showroom. The installation centres on a large tactile video wall and seven independent touch screens distributed across the room, enabling multiple student groups to work simultaneously in a parallel, collaborative dynamic.
The immersive room is now an integral part of ISM's learning cycle. Teachers design targeted, visual, and interactive activities organised around "vertical learning walls" — structured environments where students progress autonomously while staff maintain an at-a-glance overview of every group's work.
Educational Outcomes
Key benefits observed by the ISM teaching team include:
- Independent working: students navigate screen-based activities without constant teacher intervention
- Immediate teacher visibility: the layout gives staff a real-time overview of all groups, making it easier to spot misunderstandings and tailor support
- In-flow feedback: the interactive setup allows immediate, activity-embedded feedback rather than end-of-session review
- Flexible teaching scenarios: seven parallel screens support differentiated workshops, cross-group presentations, and varied instructional formats adaptable across all teaching levels
- XR headset compatibility: native integration with Meta XR headsets positions the school to extend collaborative experiences into immersive environments as its digital strategy matures
Infrastructure Integration
ISM operates as a "1:1 school" with all teacher and student devices enrolled in a rigorous device management system. Shariiing was integrated into the existing digital ecosystem and security protocols without disruption. The school emphasises that technology decisions are made collectively across stakeholders as part of a structured digital deployment strategy.
"The technology — whether it's the tactile video wall or the Shariiing collaborative solution — is amazing, but what it allows us to do from a pedagogical point of view is vital. We strongly believe that technology should enhance the learning experience and not just be a gadget." — Vipula Sharma, Digital Learning Coordinator
