The Biinaagami Giant Floor Map is a large-scale augmented reality installation created by Canadian Geographic that brings the ecology, culture, and Indigenous heritage of the Great Lakes region to life for students, educators, and the public. The map — measuring eight by six metres — was launched on March 25, 2026, at the James Mason Community Centre in Saugeen First Nation, Ontario, Canada.
Developed with the Saugeen Ojibway Nation and their Coastal Waters Monitoring Program (CWMP), the project centres on the Anishinaabe Water Walker journey and highlights the deep relationship between the Saugeen Ojibway Nation and the waters that surround their territory. Alongside Indigenous knowledge, the installation incorporates water quality and environmental monitoring data gathered by CWMP, which tracks fish communities, water temperature, habitat conditions, and nearshore health.
Funded by Ontario Power Generation, the project was designed to serve the region's school boards, including the Bluewater District School Board and the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board. A curriculum companion supports teachers in integrating the map into classroom learning about water, ecosystems, and Indigenous perspectives. The map will be available as a bookable educational resource through the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre's Education Centre.
