Virtuix, the Austin-based maker of omnidirectional treadmill systems, delivered an Omni One unit to the United States Marine Corps Training and Education Command (TECOM) Integration Lab at Quantico, Virginia in April 2026. The delivery extends Virtuix's presence in the defense training sector following earlier placements at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and Yokota Air Base.

The Omni One allows users to physically walk, run, and move in any direction within a virtual environment, providing full-body immersion that conventional seated or standing VR platforms cannot replicate. For the Marine Corps, the unit supports the Virtual Terrain Walk (VTW) system — a multi-user application that uses AI-driven 3D reconstruction to generate 360-degree photorealistic virtual environments from real-world terrain data. Use cases include operational planning, mission rehearsal, and combat readiness training.

The TECOM Integration Lab evaluates emerging technologies for potential adoption across Marine Corps training programmes. KBR served as a strategic partner in the engagement. The purchase represents one Omni One system, with the potential for broader deployment pending the outcome of the integration evaluation.

Quotes

We are encouraged to see continued traction for full-body VR with Omni One across the defense sector.
