Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (HMTG) developed a suite of 360° virtual tour experiences for the city of Hannover under the Travelling without moving brand, offering prospective visitors the ability to explore the city's landmarks from home before making the journey in person.
The web-based platform, powered by hannover-living.de's panorama viewer, provides access to 360° panoramic imagery across a broad range of Hannover's most prominent attractions. Featured locations include the Herrenhäuser Gärten — encompassing the Großer Garten, Berggarten, and historic Grotte — the Maschsee lake, Schloss Marienburg, Hannover's Altstadt, the Neues Rathaus, the Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover, Heinz von Heiden Arena (home of Hannover 96), and the Sprengel Museum, among others. Seasonal and regional destinations include the Hannover Christmas market and the Steinhuder Meer lake.
The service is designed to function across desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers with a responsive design, ensuring broad accessibility without the need for dedicated VR hardware. HMTG promotes the experience as a way for travellers to build anticipation for their visit while also serving accessibility goals by enabling those unable to travel to experience the city virtually. The platform was last updated in January 2026 and continues to expand its library of tour locations.
